Balvenie Signature Batch #4

CV-XAj4WUAEvh84Please take into account that these are my personal tasting notes and personal experience. as such you may interpret this whisky very differently from me.

Colour:

Deep gold.

Nose:

Strong sherry nose with the grapes coming though. Slightly sweet but with a hint of peat.

Palate:

An initial hit of peat and smokiness tempered by a creamy, sweet vanilla flavour.

Finish:

Dry and long lasting with a spicy quality.

Overall:

An excellent whisky – a perfect balance between smokey peat and sweet sherry. Not many of the Signature Batch #4 around these days – it was very difficult to finish the bottle off knowing I might not get my hands on it again. But whisky is there to be enjoyed and I certainly did enjoy it!

Classic Rock Match:

Following a post by @the_whisky_lady entitled ON THE ROCKS: Match Your Whisky With Rock Classics I’m going to try and match my tastings with a classic rock song.

For this dram I’m going with Creedence Clearwater Revival -Have You Ever Seen The Rain?

Notes:

Taken from Whisky Exchange website:

BALVENIE 12 YEAR OLD SIGNATURE
Batch 4

70cl / 40%

Balvenie Signature 12yo replaced the fondly-remembered Founders Reserve 10yo as the staple in the distillery’s range. This is a marriage of Sherry, Bourbon and Refill casks and, as always with Balvenie, it’s a polished, mellow whisky to relax with.
