The One – Limited Edition (Sherry Cask)

Sampled at Whisky Birmingham 2016 run by The Birmingham Whisky Club.

Please take into account that these are my personal tasting notes and personal experience, as such you may interpret this whisky very differently from me.

Sweet, toffee and brown sugar with a hint of spice. Sherry – Oh My God the sherry! It’s actually the first thing that hits you about this and you have to delve a little deeper to get anything else from it.

Sweet, honey and spice, orange peel coming through after awhile and even a faint hint of smoke hidden in the depths. Once again though the sherry is overriding almost to the point it eclipses everything else. The dryness of the sherry does help balance the overall sweetness though.

Longer lasting than “The One”. Once again sherry is dominant. Orange, sweet and again a faint touch of smoke.

If you’re a fan of sherry you’ll love this, if not then maybe this is “The One” to avoid. It is worth persisting through the sherry though to discover the what’s hidden underneath. Personally though I’m a fan of sherry cask whiskies so I enjoyed this expression. This is a limited edition however so if you want to get your mitts on a bottle you might struggle. It is also not to be confused with the 12 Month Oloroso Sherry Cask version – which is also a limited edition although it’s more readily available still.

Currently a limited number of bottles are available at House of Malt at a reduced price of £39.95 until the 20th March 2017.

The ONE, our unique blend of exceptional whiskies from the British Isles, has been ‘finished’ in Oloroso sherry hogsheads at our distillery, further enhancing this outstanding whisky. This is a limited edition of only 3,335 bottles.
