Three Ships 10 Year

image

The second of three samples my wife bought me for my 28th birthday, all three adding up to 28 years worth of whisky. The samples were from Master of Malt who I must say gave excellent customer service.

Please take into account that these are my personal tasting notes and personal experience, as such you may interpret this whisky very differently from me.

Colour:

Honey.

Nose:

Sweet, vanilla, oak and touch of smoke.

Palate:

Creamy, oak, small amount of smoke, nutty and spice. With a bit of water you get the vanilla from the nose come through clearly.

Finish:

Oak, spice and slightly more smokey on the finish.

Overall:

Very enjoyable. A good mix of flavours but nothing strong enough to really compete with anything else which created a nice subtle mix. Certainly like to try the rest of their range.

Notes:

Taken from Three Ships Website.

THREE SHIPS 10 YEAR OLD SINGLE MALT

South Africa’s first single malt whisky was another pioneering first for The James Sedgwick Distillery. Launched in 2003 as a limited release, 3 more have been released to commemorate the pioneering voyages of Bartholomew Diaz, Vasco da Gama and Jan van Riebeeck in a special collectors’ series.
