Please take into account that these are my personal tasting notes and personal experience, as such you may interpret this whisky very differently from me.
Colour:
Light Gold.
Nose:
Sweet but with a fresh, almost citrus tang to it. A hint of smoke and spice which becomes slightly more pronounced with water.
Palate:
A good balance of sweet and smokey – neither one overpowering the final taste. Sweet apple and pear, gentle smoke with a dash of oak and spice but with a sharp citrus edge cutting through. Surprisingly dry near the end.
Finish:
Sweet smoke with more emphasis on the oak and spice, with some hazelnut showing through. Still has a slight citrus tang though and still dry.
Overall:
An easy introduction to single malts – nothing too overpowering with a good mix of sweet and light smoke. Not as complex as some other single malts out there but that makes it an easy drink. Water brings out the flavours a little but doesn’t make a great difference overall.
