Please take into account that these are my personal tasting notes and personal experience, as such you may interpret this whiskey differently from me.
This sample was kindly sent to me by Maltman Mike who runs the Maltman Mike & Friend’s Show on YouTube which I highly recommend checking out if you haven’t already. He also works at House of Malt so if you need advice on buying a whisky he’ll be able to help. This is a 12 year old, Oloroso Sherry, single cask whisky and another beast at 57.6% abv!
Vanilla ice cream, sherry, oak and Christmas spices – cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.
Sherry, fruit – dried fruit and fresh berries, vanilla.
Sherry – and lots of it. Some fruit notes
Similar to the GlenDronach Single Cask this is another beast at 57.6% abv, but then I enjoy that. This is pure sherry through and through! I managed to get a few other notes out of it but essentially this is just very high abv sherry. I enjoyed it but I did feel as though the whisky element had been completely lost under flood of sherry on this one.
I can’t actually find any tasting notes for this as it was a hand bottling at the distillery. You can however find out about the rest of the Tomatin range or look at booking a distillery tour to bottle your own on their website.
